Groundhog Day(s)

Okay, campers, rise and shine, and don’t forget your booties ’cause it’s cooooold out there today.

Though having never set foot in Woodstock, Illinois, I am certain I could successfully walk around it blindfolded. Harold Ramis ‘cast’ this quaint, Midwestern village to play the role of Punxsutawney, PA in 1992 for his masterpiece Groundhog Day. I have seen the film so many times that Woodstock feels like a childhood pen pal – a person you feel you know quite intimately, yet have never met.

Since the mid-1990s, the townsfolk of Woodstock have come together to celebrate their wonderful contribution to cinema history. The gathering has grown and coalesced into ‘Groundhog Days‘, a multi-day festival featuring screenings, walking tours, a dance and the occasional celebrity appearance. It begins next week on January 29th.

The 2021 schedule and more information can be found here at : http://www.woodstockgroundhog.org/

I can’t wait to check it out myself one day.
